Like every individual, each organization has its implicit ideology. The author outlines his ideology and describes the ideology implicit in two key Society of Psychologists in Management (SPIM)-related documents: the SPIM ByLaws and SPIM Foundation ByLaws. Using a scientist/practitioner model, SPIM's implicit ideology is expressed differently by its members whose personal ideologies are embedded in different organizational types or systems. Slochower and Constantine's (1991) four paradigmatic system types (Closed System, Random System, Open System and Synchronous System) are used to delineate these different organizational perspectives. Attention is paid to how different system types have been dominant at different times in SPIM's developmental history.
