Existing flourishing models emphasize emotional, psychological, and social dimensions; what is missing is spirituality as a valid facet of the construct flourishing. This study empirically explored a revised and expanded model of flourishing in examining positive psychological and social functioning, positivity, and spirituality as components of what it means to flourish in life. Participants were 56 men and 111 women between the ages of 18 and 85. Results indicated significant positive correlations among spirituality, positivity, and positive psychological and social functioning, supporting spirituality's close association with extant dimensions of flourishing. Principal components analysis was employed to identify positive personal self, positive social self, and spiritual self as facets of flourishing. Furthermore, results support spirituality's unique ability to predict salient outcomes. These findings establish the utility of spirituality and demonstrate it as an important dimension within the proposed expanded model of human flourishing.
