The written report of the psychological assessment of a child endures over time to influence the child's life and presents the assessing psychologist on paper. Thus, great care must be taken to write a report which helps the reader understand and take appropriate action on behalf of the child, and presents the writer as a competent professional. To achieve this, the writer must understand the purpose of the assessment, write succinctly and clearly at a level appropriate to the reader, follow standard English useage, organize the material in a readable format, and use concrete examples throughout the report.
