Based on a 1992 study of serials education and serials librarianship funded by the Australian Serials Special Interest Group of ALIA and the Centre for Information Studies at Charles Sturt University, this paper presents a profile of serials education in Australian library schools, comparing this with practitioner perceptions of their professional and para-professional training. The study draws conclusions that are of value to both practitioners and educators concerned with education for serials librarianship.
