The Strong Interest Inventory is a psychological assessment instrument with a 60-year history. During the years in which the Strong has been in existence, an impressive empirical base for the instrument has emerged. Empirical studies have demonstrated the Strong's validity (e.g., construct, predictive, etc.) for White samples. This review was undertaken to determine whether studies have found psychometric validity of the Strong with Black samples. Eight studies which investigated questions of psychometric validity of the Strong with Black samples were found. In general, the review found little evidence of the Strong's psychometric validity with Black samples. The findings are discussed in terms of the implications for research and counseling.
