This essay reviews the past 15 years of scholarship in Shakespeare's cultural afterlife, the ways in which the works of Shakespeare have been used, plundered, recrafted, and reinflected by generations and cultures not Shakespeare's own, what has become recognized as “Shakespearean cultural studies”.
