This research examines how the positional accuracy of linear vector data changes with feature type, complexity, percent vertex proximity and scale. In a case study, the positional accuracy of a range of linear topographic feature types across a spectrum of scales is measured by taking regular offsets to a reference line and the results are examined for relationships between positional accuracy and the aforementioned variables. It is found that positional accuracy does indeed vary with scale, feature type, complexity and percent vertex proximity.
