Bolonia 2º año: Los estudios universitarios de Relaciones Públicas en Cataluña (curso 2011-12) / Bologna 2nd year: The university studies of Publics Relations in Catalonia (course 2011-12)

Abstract

Se concluye que las Relaciones Públicas siguen siendo minoritarias en cuanto a número de asignaturas con respecto a las específicas de Publicidad y al planteamiento general de las mismas, continuan confinadas a un segundo plano y poseen tintes mayoritariamente instrumentales (tácticos y no estratégicos).AbstractThis article describes the university studies of Public Relations in Advertising and Public Relations degrees from the university system of Catalonia, during the course 2011-12.The theoretical framework and the discussion describes the most recent European an Spanish studies conducted by professional associations specialized in Public Relations (2010-11), which allow to contextualize the situation and assess the gap between the training requirements outlined for proper performance of professional practice and the limited and poor specific skills on Public Relations that the future graduates may acquire with the current training programs offered by Catalan universities. The research has been conducted through a systematic tracking of websites of the universities in the unit of analysis. The investigation shows the absence of notable changes in the degrees respect to the Spanish university model prior to the implementation of the Bologna Process, remaining as a deficient supply, in line with what was found during the courses 2009-10 and 2010-11, starting from the implementation of the EEES (EHEA). We conclude again that Public Relations subjects remain still a minority in number with respect to specific and general advertising subjects, they are still confined to the background and are mostly instrumental designed (non-strategic and tactical).
