This article evolved from the author's observations and subsequent research on question-answer interaction between client and therapist, and teacher and student. To add to art therapy literature, which already establishes language as a necessary skill, the questionanswer dialogue is examined. Patton's six-question instrument which provides categories of question options is discussed in detail, with application for the art therapist. Effective formulation of questions provides the clinician, educator, and researcher with a structure that enhances art therapy goals.
