An enterprise has a tendency to become big and complex. IT implementation in an enterprise has to be synchronized to the business needs. In developing this synchronization, it needs a framework which can be used as guidance in descripting the needs and the relationships between components in the enterprise. A number of enterprise architecture frameworks arise as a part of the increasing system complexity and business synchronization. Currently, there are four dominated methodologies for enterprise architecture framework including Zachman Framework for Enterprise Architectures, the Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), the Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA), and Gartner (formerly, the meta framework). Before using the methodology for enterprise architecture framework, it is needed to understand the comparison between components and characteristics in each framework, so that it is in line with the existing business needs. The analysis results show that none of the framework provides a complete solution. Each has benefits and defects. So that, for an organization, parts of the methodology can be selected, modified, associated, and reorganized to fit the needs.
