Educational centres must care for diversity among their students, but detecting and assessing this diversity is a prerequisite to any intervention programme. Nevertheless, personality, which is one of he main sources of diversity, has not received much attention. In our study, we aimed to establish whether adolescent students diagnosed with learning disorders differed on personality traits from adolescents in ordinary schooling. To do so, we applied a personality inventory to 506 students, 71 of them in special education programmes because of learning disorders and 435 in ordinary schooling. Results suggest that differences in personality are related with academic performance. Thus, personality should not be ignored when conducting psychological assessment and psycho-pedagogical interventions on educational contexts.
