Techniques of Social Group Work

Abstract

This paper identifies the dual objectives of social group work as (a) developing a democratic mutual aid system, and (b) actualizing purpose. It describes 29 techniques of so- cial group work used by the ractitioner to help the group meet these objectives. Each tecinique is classified accordm to the objective it is primarily used to meet, and is descrigbed behaviorally. Excerpts from process are included to illustrate many of the techniques.
