Culture can influence the effectiveness of ethics management.\nSome behaviours, which are acceptable in one culture, might not be\nacceptable in other cultures. These kinds of situations can easily occur\nin multi-cultural construction projects, resulting in unexpected\nconflicts. A proper ethics training programme can provide a solution to\nthese conflicts, leading to improved moral development and ethical\ndecision making of project participants and mutual respect which will\nproduce harmonized environments. The paper focuses on ethics\ntraining for multi-cultural construction projects and reports on the\ndevelopment of a training programme. Not only ethical aspects but\nalso cultural aspects have been considered in the programme.\nHofstede’s cultural dimensions on designated construction industries\nare analysed in terms of ethical implication. The relationships between\ncultural dimensions and ethical implications have been conceptualized\ntogether with their applications to construction. An example of an\nethics training programme on a multi-cultural construction project has\nbeen presented to demonstrate the practicality of the suggested\napproach.
