Abstract

warrant careful study by American archivists. Their educational programs are among their most readily apparent accomplishments, especially to American visitors acutely conscious of our deficiencies in this area. Archival research programs are less conspicuous and more difficult to describe, but in this area, too, Soviet archivists have been leaders. The institution they have built to address archival research problems is unlike anything we have in the United States and far surpasses in size and scope any of our archival research centers.
