The exchange value of journalistic information is getting deteriorated. This\n\t\t\t\t phenomenon affects both the industrial basis and the social and democratic\n\t\t\t\t functions of journalism. This paper analyses the causes and effects. The first\n\t\t\t\t one is related to the information abundance, the lack of credibility and the lack\n\t\t\t\t of a solid digital business model. The second one suggests a scenario\n\t\t\t\t accentuated by the reduction of quality, the fragility of journalistic business, the\n\t\t\t\t concentration of the audience, the weakening of journalistic profession, and the\n\t\t\t\t reduction of its social relevance. These effects suggest the need to explore new\n\t\t\t\t channels to recover the value of journalistic information in the digital scenario.
