Linking Music Education to the Music Industry

Abstract

The paper will outline the development and implementation of an undergraduate arts degree focussing on the music industry. The paper will provide the rationale for the development of the course and present an overview of its content. A primary concern in the course development stage was the provision of an extended accessible education in music that would provide an entry point into employment in the broad music and performing arts industry. The course was designed to articulate with existing TAFE/VET diploma courses in music performance and music business management.
