Three models of feminism and their implications for social work practice are described in terms of human nature, the nature of the social order, the nature of inequality, factors that perpetuate sex inequality, view of the good society, strategies to achieve the good society, and prescriptions for sex-role changes. Each of the models is described in terms of implications for social work practice. The feminist models are compared according to problem identification, assessment, treatment strategies, and treatment goals. The potential contributions of feminist perspectives in social work practice and the importance for social workers to become aware of the assumptions that implicitly underlie their own practice also are discussed.
