Outcomes of a Developmental Music Program

Abstract

A developmental music program based on the methodology and teachings of Zoltan Kodaly has been operating for over seven years in certain primary schools in the Metropolitan West Region of the New South Wales Department of Education. Although I have had no connection with the project, I have watched it over the years with very close interest as an unbiased outsider with a background of music education, teacher education, and research. I am therefore honoured that I have been given the task of reporting on the outcomes of the project and the implications for music education arising from results of the research which has now been carried out.
