Abstract

The contribution’s objective is to present the “onymical country” of the Helsinky City from the aspect of both official and unofficial toponyms used by different social groups. The theoretical starting point is a new interdisciplinary approach towards city toponymy which combines linguistic, geographical, theoretical and methodological principles. The article also takes into account the project dealing with the toponymy of Helsinki “Transformation of the onymical country in the socio-linguistically heterogeneous surroundings of the Helsinki City”. \n\n
