Palabras clave Psicologia evolucionista Hipotesis irrefutables ABSTRACT THE FORMULATION OF UNFALSIFIABLE HIPOTHESES IN THE FIELD OF EVOLUTYONARY PSYCHOLOGY Evolutionary psychology affirms that our mind is a product of our biological evolution. According to this model the human mind can be understood only if it accepts that it was adequated to the environment of our hunter-gathered ancestors. This environment is called Evolutionary Environment of Adaptativeness (EEA) and it is best described as a statistical aggregate of selection pressures over a particular period of time that are responsible for the emergence of an adaptation. According to the critics postulate the existence of the EEA convert the hypotheses of PE into ‘just stories’, without empirical support, and in consequence, unfalsifiables. This critics find sustenance in the popperian model of science. However, other authors consider more appropriate to analyze the scientific character of PE from models like the one of Kuhn or Lakatos. Among its defenders it is stated that PE also uses a variety of empirical methods to prove hypotheses. These methods do not differ from those used in other sciences. I claim that the inexistence of agreement in philosophy of science about when a theory is scientific do not allow an evaluation of PE and generate the possibility to use the model that fits to the intentions of each author.
