Evaluating the effectiveness of practice

Abstract

Social workers have been criticised for neglecting to evaluate the effectiveness of their practice. This paper describes a step-by-step model of an evaluative approach and provides three practice examples to demonstrate how the model can be used. The authors' concern is to argue that social workers should adopt an evaluative approach to their work and to provide a model which builds on familiar practice skills in order to convey a sense of its feasibility.
