Population decrease following the coming of Europeans in the Pacific has affected inequally the three French Overseas Territories in this region. Since 1945, natural population growth was higher in French Polynesia and in Wallis and Futuna than in New Caledonia. Fertility is declining more rapidly in French Polynesia than in the other Territories. Migrations were very important since the end of the XIXth century in New Caledonia : European French and Asian and Oceanian workers. These populations have settled, mostly the Wallisians. French and Chinese immigration in French Polynesia was not very important. Wallisians and Futunians migrate to New Caledonia.
