To assess potential age and sex differences in personality, 150 volunteers ranging in age from 21 to 80 years were placed into one of three groups on the basis of their chronological age, and the Comrey (1970) Personality Scales were administered. The results indicated that even with statistical controls for educational levels, significant differences were found among the age groups for the following scales: Response Bias, Orderliness, Social Conformity, Emotional Stability, Masculinity, and Activity. Significant sex differences were observed on the Orderliness scale, and significant age and sex interactions were found on the scales of Response Bias and Masculinity. These findings are similar to those obtained for other projective and objective personality tests.
