Abstract

The interview with Saul Bellow took place in two sessions. The first discussion, on December 26, 1982, occurred at the University of Chicago, while we held the second conversation, on March 5, 1983, in Bellow's apartment overlooking Lake Michigan. Over tea and with a marvelous view of the lake, Bellow clarified some key issues regarding his work. Reflective, articulate, often with a street-wise, wry smile, Bellow discussed openly his artistry.
