The significance of rhythmic and periodic phenomena in human geography is reconsidered. The notion of entrainment (synchronization) is the key to the scheme. For the most part the spaces we have in mind are the areas or regions of familiar meaning in human geography. Our conjecture is that times make spaces into places. An example of the entrainment process as a creator of new geographical territories is given by reference to the impact of Greenwich Mean Time on the towns of England. At smaller space and time scales a hypothetical example of the impact of entrainment on an office is given.
