The composition and microstructure of the 19 remainders including slag, ore and iron samples collected from the iron smelting sites of the Han Dynasty found in Liuchen town,Pingnan County,Guangxi Region are investigated by using metallographic microscopy, mineralographic microscopy, scanning electron microscope with energy-dispersive spectrometry(SEM-EDS).The results show that the slag is mainly composed of FeO-SiO2,and bloomery iron smelting technique is used in the site at least, and iron ore used is high-grade iron ore,and the microstructure of iron blocks shows steel structure.
