Quantitatively analytic model for the impact of natural disaster on national economy

Abstract

The way to express direct and indirect economic losses in the input output table is discussed and a model is formulated to evaluate the impact of natural disaster on national economy. In virtue of the model, not only the loss of gross output but also the added value in different departments in economy system can be evaluated. Empirically, the loss of agriculture output due to natural disaster is estimated, and based on the input output tables in 1995 and 1997, the effects of agriculture loss on other departments in national economy are analyzed.
