Frequent interactions between Spanish and Belgian psychology, during the 19th and 20th centuries are here considered. Some psychological centers, established in well-known Belgian institutions such as Louvain University and the Free University of Brussels, attracted the interest of some Spanish researchers, who valued both the scientific quality and the religious atmosphere of Belgian centers similar to those of Spain. Attention is paid to figures like the Krausist Guillaume Tiberghien and the psychophysicist Joseph Delboeuf in the 19th century; and Juan Zaragueta and Marcelino Arnaiz, well-known disciples of the Belgian Cardinal Mercier, well into the 20th century. In the field of applied psychology, a significant Belgian influence was exerted upon some 20th century Spanish professional groups working in clinical child psychology and school and work guidance. Belgian psychology can be considered an important source for Spanish scientific tradition.
