Abstract

Oscar J. Martinez's topical approach to Mexican American history provides a comprehensive overview of several aspects of Chicana/o history. The book is clearly written, well organized, and accessible. This is quite an accomplishment given the vast ground covered. Martinez sets out to provide a social, economic, and political overview of the major trends that have affected Mexicans and Mexican Americans in the United States.
