The Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa presents a postmodern simulacrum: making an effort to present New Zealand's nation, to harmonise different historical narratives and to provide a display that reflects the national imaginary of biculturalism. A complex articulation that produced the 'Many' within New Zealand bicultural discourse is explored through an analysis of the way it is represented in the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa. The focus is on the Croatian community and the way it has been positioned as one of the 'Many', its relation to the 'Two' (Maori and Pakeha) and its role in the construction of the 'One' (the New Zealand nation).
