Evaluating the use of art therapy for older people with dementia: a control group study

Abstract

This chapter describes a multidisciplinary pilot project using two art therapy groups and two controls of ten weeks each (and the beginnings of a new followup project), to evaluate the effects of art therapy on a group of patients with dementia. It took place within Brighton Health Care Trust and was generously funded by the Alzheimer’s Disease Society. It is the first completed art therapy study to use control groups.
