The Functioning of the Gold Standard

Abstract

Today the world is faced with two major currency problems. The first of these problems is the question as to how Germany and a number of other countries can extricate themselves step by step from their pressing currency difficulties. The other problem concerns the ultimate structure of the world’s monetary system. Here the discussion comes to a head in the following two questions: should there be a return to the gold standard; and if so, should it operate as it did formerly or take on an entirely new form? These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
