The aim of this chapter is to provide an overview of the research on crisis communication in Northern Europe including Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Iceland. The three questions addressed in the chapter are: What empirical findings and tools for practice has the Nordic research on crisis communication produced? Which knowledge institutions have hosted this type of research? And who are the scholars that have conducted the research? The overview demonstrates that Nordic crisis communication research typically adopts a societal perspective focusing on case studies of (inter)national crises or natural disasters. However, the researchers included in the overview also zoom in on more specific aspects such as the threat society, multicultural crisis communication, resilience, and the role of the (social) media.
