This article analyses archaeological evidence on the history of Cisjordan during the Early Bronze Age. A new world emerged in the Near East and its manifestations signalled the end of the Late Chalcolithic period and the beginning of the Early Bronze Age. This new civilization represents a radical transformation of the social and cultural landscape marked by the appearance of the first cities and the development of a complex and hierarchised society-based Mediterranean agrarian economy.
