Verfassungsgerichte sind machtvolle Akteure und zentrale Mitspieler in fast allen liberalen Demokratien. Gleichwohl wird ihre Demokratiekompatibilität mitunter in Frage gestellt, wenn sie – demokratisch vergleichsweise schwach legitimiert – in demokratische Prozesse intervenieren.
