Social workers often receive little preparation for practice that promotes financial capability during their professional education. Building on previous chapters, this chapter explores the knowledge needed for financial capability practice; discusses several initial efforts by social work programs to increase the financial education, literacy, and capability among social work students and practitioners; and proposes considerations for social work educators interested in exploring financial capability curricular offerings. The elements of partnerships, program interests and resources, flexible development, and measurement of outcomes are highlighted as key considerations. Lastly, implications of policy developments for financial capability education are discussed in the context of recent policy changes that impact financial capability.
