What can biography add to our knowledge of public administration? What are or should be the aims or purpose of biographical research in this field? What are the uses and limits, the strengths and weaknesses of the biographical approach as applied to the study of who leading public administrators are, and what they do? This chapter, first, discusses the administrative biographer’s possible aims and, second, examines the ways in which biographical research can connect to, and be used to explore, some specific issues on the agenda of leadership studies. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
