This chapter suggests that we might be entering a new phase of sociospatial development. In many respects, the shape of the emerging socioscape that we attempt to schematize in this chapter remains unclear. However, we want to focus on one possibility—that recent changes in the morphology of spaces and the dynamics of flows that in an earlier modernity had advantaged the “urban,” may recently have begun to point in other directions, advantaging now what we propose to call the “extraurban.” These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
