The National Review of Music in Schools and the endless debate about music in primary schools

Abstract

This paper explores a number of issues related to music in primary schools and is the result of thoughts on some of the outcomes of the National Review of Music in Schools. The focus is on where the immediate responsibility lies for the improvement of teaching of music in the primary classroom and the long-term demise of responsibility for teacher support in discipline areas by State and Territory education departments.
