In this article we review the current state of psychology, focusing on the debate over whether the various approaches in psychology should be integrated or whether the plurality of approaches should be maintained. We emphasize the topicality and pertinence of this review, since it deals not only with epistemological questions, but also with the different methods and techniques used in research and in practice. The review also considers the different programmes used in the training of psychologists, currently the subject of discussion given the urgency of creating a psychology curriculum for the European Higher Education Area. Furthermore, we provide some examples of integration of the various theories, methods and subjects. By way of conclusion, we propose a new form of specialization for psychology students, more in accordance with the needs of society.
