Visually-impaired poeple need to experience the web in a satisfactory way. Current technology available (screen readers) read the code of the web pages, so that accessibility entirely depends on the design. Current design standards for accessibility are significant but they are far from solving crucial \nproblems at the layout, navigation and content level. This paper presents an attempt to enhance accessibility for users with visual disabilities. A case study of the design of a content-intensive website is presented, where new design gems for accessibility have been exploited and validated. Feedbacks from blind people are really encouraging.
