The use of silver in south-eastern Iberia during the Bronze \nAge (c. 225o–145o cal BC) is conspicuous in the so-called El \nArgar Culture. Trace elements detected in the compositional \nanalyses of the objects coupled with the absence of cupellation \nresidue reveal that native silver or silver chlorides \n(mainly cerargyrite) were used as resources. \nIn this paper we present all the Iberian deposits of native \nsilver or silver chlorides and discuss their accessibility in \nprehistoric times as well as their compositional characterisation \nby energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) analyses \nand a scanning electron microscope with energy dispersive \nX-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX). A first approach towards \nthe definition of their isotopic fields by lead isotope analyses \n(LIA) is also presented. LIA were conducted using an inductively \ncoupled plasma multi-collector mass spectrometer \n(ICP-MC-MS).
