The purpose of the paper is to explore the impact of employees work attitudes on firm performance. Current studies focus on the impact of Human Resource Management practices whereas we suggest that this impact is mediated by the well-being and satisfaction of the employees. The research design is based on financial analysis of a ‘big data’ set consisting of 74,320 observations (48,308 males and 26,012 females) of employees working for largest 101 firms listed in the London Stock Exchange. The findings suggest strong explanatory power of employees’ satisfaction and education impact on firm performance. This impact is moderated by income (stronger impact for high earners), hierarchy level (stronger impact for managers and executives), and gender (stronger impact for males), and having children (stronger impact for those without children). Our study is original in using ‘big-data’, employing financial analysis and associating individual data aggregated into firm level, testing relationships with firm performance hard data.
