Beyrouth entre reconstruction et métropolisation

Abstract

The private sector is a major contributor to the reconstruction of Beirut, but the State remains in a main position due to its orientations and investments. It conducts its policy according to two major necessities : a metropolitan planning promoting unity and balance in a city destructured by the war ; and on the other hand, the will of establishing regional economic integration, which only focuses on selected places like the city-center. The implementation of those projects does not fully respect the orientations of the State, and reflects the involvement of private and local actors.
