Well-being therapy is a psychotherapeutic intervention that takes into consideration the above concepts for achieving a balanced and individualized path to optimal functioning. Well-being therapy is a short-term psychotherapeutic strategy, that extends over 8–12 sessions, which may take place every week or every other week. The goal of the therapist is to lead the patient from an impaired level to an optimal level in thesis dimensions of psychological well-being. This means that patients are not simply encouraged pursing the highest possible levels in psychological well-being, in all dimensions, but to obtain a balanced functioning. Well-being therapy has been employed in several clinical studies. Both well-being and cognitive-behavioral therapies were associated with a significant reduction of residual symptoms, as measured by the Clinical Interview for Depression (CID), and in PWB well-being. Well-being therapy effectiveness may be based on two distinct yet ostensibly related clinical phenomena.
