James A. Kelhoffer bietet in dieser Monographie eine gründliche Analyse der Aussagen über die Nahrung des Täufers (Mk 1,6c par. Mt 3,4c) in ihrer historischen, soziologischen und auslegungsgeschichtlichen Dimension. Die Auslegungsgeschichte vom 3. bis zum 16. Jahrhundert zeigt, daß die Ernährung des Täufers weithin als asketisches Modell verstanden wurde, das den Gläubigen zur Nachahmung dienen sollte
