Abstract : This research explains and describes (1) the form of code switching and mix code in the teaching and learning activities; (2) function of code switching and mix code in the teaching and learning activities; (3) the impact of code switching and mixed code in the teaching and learning activities; (4) and relevance of code switching and mix code in the teaching and learning activities as teaching material for eighth grade SMP Negeri 2 Gedangsari. The type of research used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The result in this study showed the form of switching code in the teaching and learning activities is rather internal code and external code, as well as the form of mixed code can be grouped by linguistic elements such as the elements of words, phrases, and clauses, and based on the kind of language such as internal and external code mix. The function of code switching in the teaching and learning activities, among others, for example, giving the command, or honor, and function of the mix code among others to add information or quotes, giving emphasis, and give praise. Code switching and code mixing in teaching and learning activities give positive and negative impacts. The results of this research also shows that code switching and code mixing in the teaching and learning activities can be used as discussion teaching material for eighth grade SMP Negeri 2 Gedangsari. Abstrak : Penelitian ini menjelaskan dan mendeskripsikan tentang (1) bentuk alih kode dan campur kode dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar; (2) fungsi alih kode dan campur kode dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar; (3) dampak alih kode dan campur kode dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar (4) dan relevansi alih kode dan campur kode dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar sebagai materi ajar diskusi kelas 8 di SMP Negeri 2 Gedangsari. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bentuk alih kode dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar adalah alih kode intern dan alih kode ekstern, serta bentuk campur kode dapat dikelompokkan berdasarkan unsur kebahasaan yaitu unsur kata, frasa dan klausa, selanjutnya berdasarkan macam bahasa yaitu campur kode intern dan ekstern. Fungsi alih kode dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar antara lain untuk memberi contoh, memberi perintah, atau menghormati; dan fungsi campur kode antara lain untuk menambah informasi atau mengutip, memberi penekanan, dan memberi pujian. Alih kode dan campur kode dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar memberi dampak positif dan negatif. Hasil penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa alih kode dan campur kode dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar dapat dijadikan sebagai materi ajar diskusi pada kelas 8 SMP Negeri 2 Gedangsari.
