Cyberspace Reflections

Abstract

From the Publisher: This report deals with the basic features and aspects of the emerging information society. It is the first attempt to develop a comprehensive structural analysis for the electronic dimension: the cyberspace. The main focus lies on the implications the new Information and Communication Technology (ICT) have on society. Exceeding the common frameworks which analyse mainly economic and technological facts, the authors tried to frame the developments into a comprehensive view. Two different perspectives are applied: First, the view from the networks as information transporters into society and secondly from the networks as electronic cyberspace to society. This approach, based on a thorough knowledge of the thematic, brought up a new set of political and social problems to be solved and let to the insinuation of a tool kit for decision-makers when approaching to the future cybernetic society. The next publication will offer this tool kit in an extended and detailed form.
