The concept 'marginality' refers to several theoretical developments in geography. Marginality is increasingly the product of dynamic processes on the global-to-local scale, and it originates from complex socio-economic circumstances, forces and decisions. Marginalization becomes a different manifestation in the cybersociety compared with the past agrarian, industrial and the post-industrial patterns of marginality. Marginalization takes places when several factors influence on a socioeconomic system, usually on a local community. Life-long socio-economic ties of a domicile and territory and respective local and regional identities are not so strong and bound to physical distance as before, due to the opening of cultures, multiculturization and increased communications. Marginalization is an inherent part of the socio-economic transformation of society. The processes of spatial restructuring and responses to pressure are depicted by developing the 'four-factor' model and its spatial manifestations. Marginality is a subjective concept, because people perceive places differently, and it depends on each individual which area or zone is considered marginal.
