Profiling Caribbean Women Entrepreneurs: Business Environment, Sectoral Constraints and Programming Lessons

Abstract

Innovation and Entrepreneurship, 2014 Within the framework of ‘Entrepreneurship Program for Innovation in the Caribbean’ (EPIC), a seven-year program funded by the Government of Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development, the ‘Women Innovators Network in the Caribbean’ (WINC) aims to establish a support system for growth-oriented women entrepreneurs in the region. This report seeks to redress the current paucity of information on growth-oriented women entrepreneurs in the Caribbean region by drawing on various data sources to estimate their numbers and sectoral focus. At the same time, it develops an understanding of the main issues facing women in their businesses and their future growth potential.
